Spotlight Organization

C.S. Mott Children's Hospital is a pediatric acute care hospital located in Ann Arbor, Michigan. The hospital provides comprehensive pediatric specialties and subspecialties to infants, children, teens, and young adults throughout Michigan and the surrounding states.

Their mission is to integrate clinical care, education, research and advocacy to advance the health status of children, women, and their families and communities statewide.

HorseAbility’s Mission is to improve the lives of individuals with Special Needs through Equine Facilitated Interactions.

HorseAbility is located on the beautiful campus of The College at SUNY Old Westbury. They are situated on 20 acres, boast three outdoor riding arenas, ample paddock space, and a quarter-mile grass track.

HorseAbility offers a variety of Equine Assisted Services for therapy, recreation, sport, education and/or wellness. Qualified instructors develop lesson plans that may involve riding, driving, or ground-based activities (e.g., grooming, handling, leading, observing). Through these activities participants can attain individualized horsemanship skills, and allows for the natural benefits of working with horses.

Big Family of Michigan is a Michigan based, grassroots 501 3 (c) nonprofit organizations that supports and serves the needs of foster children, abused children and institutionalized children and grandchildren being raised by grandparents from infancy to the age of 21.

The Children's Foundation works to improve the health and well-being of children & their families through fundraising, grant-making, and advocacy. This enables researchers and community organizations to identify and implement innovations capable of advancing children's health & wellness by developing new partnerships, raising funds collectively, and advocating for children's health and wellness.

Community Housing Network

Community Housing Network provides housing and housing resources to people who are homeless or facing homelessness, people with disabilities, low income and other vulnerable residents of Southeast Michigan.

Covenant House

Covenant House provides housing and supportive services to youth facing homelessness. Their work to fight youth homelessness spans 31 cities in the United States, Canada, and Central America. Covenant House's network of youth shelters provides refuge for homeless, abused, and trafficked kids and the long-term support they need to heal.

Crossroads of Michigan

Crossroads is a social service outreach agency that exists to support the community at large by providing emergency assistance, advocacy, and counseling to anyone in need. Crossroads acts in partnership with many other agencies, parishes, hospitals, companies and organizations from two locations in metro Detroit area.

Detroit Area Agency on Aging

Detroit Area Agency on Aging provides assistance to older adults, adults with disabilities and caregivers by removing social, economic, physical, and psychological barriers and creating aging friendly neighborhoods through nutrition, health and wellness, and senior independence. Services are available to older adults and caregivers residing in Detroit and the five Grosse Pointes, Hamtramck, Harper Woods, and Highland Park.

Detroit Zoo

The Detroit Zoo is home to 125 acres of expansive habitats that house more than 2,000 animals of 233 species in the heart of Metro Detroit. Known as being the first U.S. zoo to feature barless habitats, the Detroit Zoo is an internationally recognized leader in animal welfare, conservation, and sustainability.

Empowerment Plan

Empowerment Plan manufactures coats that convert into sleeping bags for the homeless. They are committed to hiring employees from shelters across Detroit to manufacture their products to help families become financially secure.

Forgotten Harvest

Forgotten Harvest provides families with food insecure with fresh and nutritious food. Rescued food and produce are delivered to metro Detroit families that struggle to cover the cost of basic life necessities. The food helps bridge the income gap for tens of thousands of people, allowing them to secure some basic life necessities for themselves and their families.

Gleaners Food Bank

Gleaners operates five food distribution centers in Wayne, Oakland, Macomb, Livingston, and Monroe counties and provides food to more than 500 partner soup kitchens, food pantries, shelters, and other agencies throughout Southeast Michigan.

HAVEN is a nationally recognized nonprofit leader that provides programs to promote violence-free homes and communities by helping victims of domestic violence and sexual assault. This is done through a series of innovative intervention, treatment, prevention, and education programs.

HorseAbility’s Mission is to improve the lives of individuals with Special Needs through Equine Facilitated Interactions. Offering a wide range of horse-related programs to children, adults, and families; HorseAbility promotes the physical, psychological, emotional, social, and spiritual well-being of all of our participants. The personal attention that each participant receives from our wonderful staff and volunteers is unparalleled.

In Memory of Community Garden

The Non-Profit In Memory of Community Garden is located in the Warrendale Community of Detroit. This garden involves multiple age groups of volunteers. Those who work will receive a fair share of the produce we are able to grow in the area.

Junior Achievement of SE Michigan

Junior Achievement gives young people grades K-12 the knowledge and skills they need to own their economic success, plan for their future, and make smart academic and economic choices.

Lighthouse provides direct services including food, shelter, rental/utility and other financial assistance, clothing, crisis referrals, and housing programs that develop and support self-sufficiency.

The Michigan Humane Society is a private, non-profit organization providing animal welfare and sheltering services to the metropolitan Detroit area.

The Michigan War Dog Memorial, Inc. is a non-profit organization that will educate the public on the heroics and dedication that K-9's give to serve and protect us.

The Pink Fund

The Pink Fund is a non-profit breast cancer organization that provides 90-day financial support for non-medical cost-of-living expenses to breast cancer patients in active treatment. Allowing them to focus on healing, raising their families and returning to the workplace.

Pope Francis Center

Pope Francis Center provides vital services to the city of Detroit’s homeless. On an average day they welcome nearly 200 guests and provide them with nutritious meals, showers, laundry and access to doctors, dentists, lawyers, and housing providers through free clinics. The Pope Francis Center serves anyone who seeks support, regardless of affiliation.

Heat & Warmth Fund (THAW)

THAW distributes assistance to vulnerable Michigan residents through 39 agency partners and a series of annual mobile processing events. THAW distributed more than $15 million in utility assistance to nearly 18,000 Michigan households.

Power Company Kids Club promotes the emotional, physical, spiritual and social well-being of at risk children and adolescents in our inner cities through mentoring, weekly programs, and partnerships with parents, churches, schools, civic leaders and community organizations.
